St. Louis Cardinal pitchers walked 11 batters in a 4-1 loss to the Mets at Busch Stadium. John Gant allowed six base on balls and two runs, one earned, in four and a third for the loss. Harrison Bader drove in the lone run for St. Louis, which dropped two of three in the series. The Cards host the Colorado Rockies tonight.

The Atlanta Braves completed a three game sweep of the Washington Nationals yesterday with a 3-2 win for their first series sweep against the Nats since 2014. Atlanta welcomes Philadelphia this evening.

The Chicago Cubs host the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon. Chicago sends Zach Davies to the mound to face Pittsburgh’s Trevor Cahill. The Cubs are coming off a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

One of the greatest hitters of all time was released Thursday as the Los Angeles Angels designated Albert Pujols for assignment. Pujols came to the Angels after winning two World Series championships with the St. Louis Cardinals. The three-time National League M-V-P has hit 667 career homers, but was hitting just .198 this season in 86 at-bats.
