Ky. gains 638 COVID cases, 11 deaths

The number of Kentuckians who have received at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine is slowly rising, with Governor Andy Beshear reporting 638 new cases Friday.

According to a news release, the positivity rate stayed fairly flat at 3.50 percent, and now 1.85 million individuals have been vaccinated and the governor says, “We are picking up economic momentum while putting the health and safety of our people first. We are lifting more restrictions each month as we get more folks vaccinated, open our schools and protect our neighbors from this virus that has already killed more than 6,500 Kentuckians.”

Eleven more Kentuckians have died due to COVID-19, putting the death toll since the pandemic began at 6,559.

Todd County is now ‘orange’ on the state incidence rate map, with Trigg now ‘yellow’—Christian County remains ‘orange’ on the map.
