CCPS Music Education programs net national recognition

The Christian County Public School System’s Music Education program has received national recognition and designated a Best Communities for Music Education.

According to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, the designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. CCPS had to answer detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

Christian County High School senior Tkhiyah Trice Wilford says, “Music education was an important facet of my high school career. Music education has allowed me to evolve both academically and personally. There are skills I’ve learned through music that are applicable to other classes and everyday life. Practicing teaches you discipline and how to accomplish tasks. Music unifies people. I am thankful to be a part of a school system that supports and advocates for music education.”
