While Saturday’s rain may have put a damper on the weekend, it may have gone a long way toward keeping Western Kentucky out of drought status.
Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah called Saturday’s steady rain event an over-producer during the weekly conference call Monday morning and says that’s good, because the region was becoming abnormally dry.
Rain will be possible with another storm system moving in Wednesday night and Thursday and while severe weather is not expected, the region could see another inch of rain.
Looking at the longer-term models, Shanklin expects warmer and wetter than average weather next week.
Shanklin noted that we’ve avoided any major severe weather outbreaks this spring so far and he’s hoping it stays that way.
