71st Rotary Auction raises nearly $398,000

The people and businesses of Christian County came through again this year and helped this year’s WHOP Rotary Radio Auction raise more money than the last auction before the pandemic.

Hour and Goat Club donations on the final night totaled almost $124,000, 164 items sold for $30,249 and the diner and sweet shop brought in about $3,600.

Overall, the 71st Rotary Auction totaled $397,832.94 for the week—ahead of last year’s $255,000 virtual auction total and ahead of the $330,000 raised in 2019.

Auction Chair Cody Noffsinger says he was reminded of the generosity of the people of Christian County over the last week.

He thanked everyone who played a role in making the auction successful.

A total of 722 items sold for just under $91,000 in six nights of the auction and cash donations to the Hour and Goat Club totaled $278,569.

All of the proceeds will help qualifying local high school graduates attend Hopkinsville Community College for free for two years and help establish the new Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation.
