Rotary Auction rolling along into Night 3 after successful Tuesday

The 71st WHOP Rotary Radio Auction will be halfway over by the end of the night and the community’s continued support is needed to make it a big success.

108 items sold last night for $13,900, 50 more items than sold on Tuesday one year ago when the auction was virtual due to the pandemic. The diner had a big day, bringing in just under $4,000 and hour and goat club donations totaled about $12,600. Tuesday’s total was about $30,600 and the cumulative total after two nights is $96,707—over $39,000 ahead of last year’s pace.

The diner opened for lunch yesterday and auction Chair Cody Noffsinger is urging locals to make it a point to get lunch at the War Memorial Building on at least one day this week.

While bidding and eating can go a long way to raise money, Noffsinger reminds that it’s cash donations to the Hour Club and Goat Club that bring in the largest portion of the proceeds each year.

In addition to the Rotary Scholars Program, the auction also supports the student loan program and the new Rotary Foundation.

The auction will air from 6 until 10 tonight, 6:30 until 10 Thursday night, 6 until 10 Friday and 6 until all items are sold Saturday. It can be heard on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com and it can be watched on the Hopkinsville Rotary website or Spectrum Channel 376.
