Ky. adds 785 new COVID cases, seven new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 785 new cases of COVID-19, while urging people to find a vaccine appointment near them soon.

The trends are showing that Kentucky is once again in a plateauing of new COVID cases, with the positivity rate now at 3.39 percent, a very slight decrease from the day before.  Governor Beshear says, “As we can see from today’s case numbers, this virus isn’t going away on its own. We have to come together to stop it. Hundreds of Kentuckians are still getting sick every day. Our people are still dying from COVID-19. But we have the power to defeat this pandemic now, and the way we can do that is by choosing to get vaccinated.”

Once again the governor reported seven new deaths, along with six identified in the ongoing audit, putting the state death toll at 6,373.  There are currently 417 Kentuckians in the hospital with coronavirus, 113 in the ICU and 52 on a ventilator.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported a new 1,270 COVID-19 cases there, along with 15 new deaths—the positivity rate in the Volunteer State is now at 6.87 percent.
