A Kentucky State Penitentiary guard was assaulted by an inmate Monday night and Kentucky State Police are investigating the incident.
According to a news release, troopers received a call of reports of an assault on a female guard by 30-year old Lawaun Colvin of Louisville, who is being held there, around 6:40 p.m. Investigation determined that Colvin allegedly threw a female guard to the ground and attempted to remove her clothing in order to sexually assault her. Colvin was quickly restrained by other guards.
The guard was treated for minor injuries. Pending charges against Colvin will be presented to a Lyon County Grand Jury.
