Oak Grove police say the man shot early Friday morning on Alabama Drive had been breaking into a home.
Detective James Carter says two armed individuals were breaking into a mobile home in the 100 block of Alabama Drive about 5:15 a.m. when the victim fired their own gun, striking one of the suspects.
The other suspect fled the scene and got away.
EMS transported the man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen to a landing site, and Air Evac transported him from there to Skyline Medical Center in critical condition.
Names of those involved have not been released.
