Comer wants southern border secured, agrees with plan to bring home troops from Afghanistan

Western Kentucky Congressman James Comer is calling on President Biden to stop the influx of people into the country at the southern border, while he agrees with the president on plans to bring home troops from Afghanistan.

Comer recently spent time at the border and described what he saw as an immigration crisis.

The Republican from Monroe County would like to see the president use the military to secure the border and then provide humanitarian aid to migrants on the Mexican side.

Comer is pleased with President Biden’s plan to bring home troops from Afghanistan by September 11.

He isn’t optimistic Congress will pass any type of comprehensive immigration reform anytime soon, saying the sides are too far apart on where their priorities lie.
