McConnell: Dems Itching To Expand Supreme Court For Political Purposes

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky says Democrats are itching to expand the Supreme Court for political purposes.

McConnell spoke on the Senate floor and referenced a bill from some Democrats to expand the high court from nine-to-13 justices.  He also criticized President Biden’s new commission on judicial reforms, calling it a shallow attempt to support court-packing.

There is a six-to-three conservative majority on the Supreme Court, but it did fairly recently hand former President Trump surprising defeats in cases involving LGBT rights and immigration.
