Ky. adds 782 COVID cases, positivity rate increases

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 782 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, along with an increase to the positivity rate that he calls concerning.

The rate increased again, up to 3.33 percent, and Governor Beshear urged people to not give up the fight now right before the end.  He says, “This is why it’s so important for Kentuckians to help us meet our Team Kentucky Vaccination Challenge and reach our 2.5 million vaccine goal. The sooner we meet this goal, the sooner we can lift many restrictions on most venues and businesses.”

The governor also reported 14 new deaths and ten additional deaths identified in the ongoing audit, putting the state death toll at 6,285.  There are currently 420 people hospitalized with coronavirus, 115 in the ICU and 51 on a ventilator, all increases.

At least 1.6 million Kentuckians have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,208 cases of COVID-19, along with 10 new deaths—the positivity rate in the Volunteer State is 6.75 percent.
