John R. Vinson III, a longtime former Trigg County coroner and sole owner of Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz, died Tuesday at the age of 78.
He graduated from Trigg county High School in 1960 and Mid-America College of Funeral Service with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1961, according to the Goodwin Funeral Home website.
He served as Coroner of Trigg County from 1965 until 2006 at which time his son, John Mark, was elected, and he served as his deputy for some time after that.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
