Flag raised to commemorate Donate Life Month, encourage others to sign up

April is National Donate Life Month and the Christian Circuit Court Clerk’s Office held a flag raising Monday to commemorate the month and encourage others to be organ donors.

Christian County Circuit Clerk Paige Parker says as of 2021, the local clerk’s office has added 30,789 organ donors to the Kentucky Organ Donor registry.

They also accept donations on behalf of the Trust for Life foundation, which can be made when someone renews or receives a driver’s license.  Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch says life is truly precious, and this is just one of many ways you can help others have a fulfilling, extended life even after you are gone.

Advocate Betty Lingenfelter says her life was saved over 20 years ago by a donor, and she will be forever grateful—she has worked ever since to support Trust for Life and to encourage others to sign up.

Mayor Lynch and Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble read a proclamation and moment of silence was held for one minute and eight second, to represent the fact that one organ donor can save the lives of eight different people.  You can commit to be an organ donor by going to donatelifeky.org or by doing so when you renew your driver’s license.
