Ky. adds 1,082 cases of COVID-19, 10 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,082 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, but says a portion of those are backlogged from Monday and Tuesday.

According to a news release, 300 of those cases were from Monday and Tuesday but were unable to be reported due to a technical error in the reporting system, which hopefully has been addressed.  Governor Beshear says, “Today’s case report reminds us that even though we’ve come so far in the fight against COVID-19, this isn’t over yet. Please, if you’re 16 or older, get vaccinated. Keep masking up in public spaces even if you have been vaccinated. None of us want to throw away our progress.”

He also reported ten new deaths, along with four discovered in the audit, which puts the death toll in the Commonwealth at 6,198.  There are 383 Kentuckians in the hospital with coronavirus, 112 in the ICU and 66 on a ventilator.  The positivity rate stayed fairly stagnant at 2.87 percent.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,497 new cases, along with nine new deaths—the Volunteer State now has a positivity rate of 5.82 percent.
