Hopkinsville man arrested on warrants, drug charges after pursuit

A Hopkinsville man sought on warrants is facing new charges after he was arrested following a foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

A Hopkinsville police officer spotted 42-year old Robert Calvin of Hopkinsville riding a bicycle at East 21st and Walnut Street and knew him to be wanted on warrants.

Calvin allegedly refused to stop for police and eventually abandoned his bike on foot until he was caught near McGee Pest Control on Walnut Street.

An arrest citation says he continued to resist and that a search of his person allegedly revealed a small bag of methamphetamine. Calvin reportedly told jail staff that he’d swallowed three grams of meth and nine prescription pills while he was running.

Calvin is charged with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of meth and tampering with evidence.

He was also served with the warrants for probation violation.
