Governor Andy Beshear reported 344 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and announced that appointments for in-person unemployment assistance will be open Wednesday.
The governor also reported seven new deaths and six reported deaths that were discovered in the ongoing audit of the state reporting system, putting the death toll at 6,184. The positivity rate decreased slightly back down to 2.89 percent.
According to a news release, new in-person locations across the state are set to open on April 15, including in Hopkinsville on Riverfront Drive, and appointments to meet with a staff member to address any issues you may having are set to open at 12 p.m. Tuesday.
Openings tomorrow will be for appointments April 15-30. Beginning April 19, appointments for May 3 will become available, with additional appointment times opening each day thereafter.
A photo ID will be required to enter the building, attendees must wear a face mask at all times and walk-ins will not be accepted at this time.
The Hopkins County Health Department have confirmed a case of the B.1.1.7 coronavirus variant a positive patient in Hopkins County. They are urging everyone who can get one to make an appointment to get a vaccine, as they are showing evidence that they create immunity to these variants.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 986 new COVID cases there, along with 38 new deaths—the positivity rate in the Volunteer State is at 8.57 percent.
