College Basketball

North Carolina coach Roy Williams is calling it a career. The 70-year-old Hall of Famer retired on Thursday after 33 years as a college head coach. Williams spent 18 seasons leading the Tar Heels, following a 15-year run at Kansas. He has over 900 wins and won three national titles at UNC.

Texas Tech’s Chris Beard is bolting for his alma mater Texas. ESPN reports the Longhorns are expected to name Beard their next basketball coach. His buyout with the Red Raiders dropped to four-million-dollars, and Texas and Beard quickly came to an agreement. Beard spent the last five seasons at Texas Tech, going 112-and-55 with three trips to the NCAA Tournament including a National Championship appearance in 2019.
