Number-11 seed UCLA upset top-seeded Michigan 51-49 last night to advance to its first Final Four since 2008. Top-overall-seed Gonzaga is also into the next round after cruising past sixth-seeded USC 85-66 in Elite Eight action. The Bruins, who went from the First Four to the Final Four, will battle the Bulldogs on Saturday. Fellow top-seeded Baylor will meet second-seeded Houston in the other Final Four matchup. It’s the first time two schools from Texas have reached the Final Four. The national championship is next Monday.
The University of Louisville’s journey to the Women’s NCAA Final Four ended one game short as the Cardinals fell to Stanford last night 78-62. Stanford erased a 12 point halftime deficit in getting the win. Dana Evans led the Cardinals with 24 points and was the only Louisville player in double figures. Louisville concludes the season 26-4.
