Lost learning recovery efforts are still underway in Christian County Public Schools, with the plan to remain in-person for the remainder of this school year.
COVID-19 cases numbers still remain fairly low in the district with three active cases among staff, five in-person student cases and one in the Virtual Learning Academy. With spring break technically starting Friday as students are off for Good Friday, Superintendent Chris Bentzel urges them to use common sense health measures during the break so they can return to school safely and keep learning.
Bentzel is hopeful the graduation rate will remain high as it has in years past even with pandemic impacts, with recovery efforts still available for students who may be failing a class.
Speaking of House Bill 563, or the ‘school choice’ bill, Bentzel says he is not in support of the measure, because he believes it would negatively impact the district financially.
Teachers continue to sign-up to get the COVID-19 vaccine, with a good portion of CCPS staff having chosen to get the shot. Bentzel says they stay in great contact with the Christian County Health Department, who monitors their coronavirus cases and keeps them informed of cases in the county as a whole.
