Ky. gains 646 new COVID-19 cases, 27 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 646 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, along with 27 new deaths.

According to a news release, the positivity rate has further declined, now down to 2.8 percent—Governor Beshear says that trend can continue, especially as long as people continue to follow the health guidelines and get the COVID-19 vaccine as it becomes available.  He says, “More than one in three Kentucky adults have been vaccinated so far, which is a huge milestone. If you haven’t been vaccinated, see where you can sign up.”

The 27 new deaths, along with 11 audited deaths, brings the overall total up to 6,008, a new grim milestone since the pandemic began.  There are 383 individuals in the hospital with the coronavirus, 88 in the ICU and 46 currently on a ventilator.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 781 new cases of COVID-19, along with 20 deaths—the positivity rate in the Volunteer State is at 7.06 percent.
