Indian Hills Elementary School’s Site Based Decision-Making Council has named Sara Sweeney as the new Principal at the school.
A news release from the district says Sweeney will replace Tonya Oakley as principal beginning this summer after Oakley recently announced her retirement.
Sweeney has been with the local school system for 14 years and is currently an assistant principal at Millbrooke Elementary School.
She began her career in education as a Reading and Social Studies teacher at Sinking Fork Elementary School.
Sweeney says, “I look forward to expanding on the work that has been accomplished the past several years under the leadership of Tonya Oakley. Although I will miss my Millbrooke family, I look forward to this next adventure as an Indian Hills Chief.”
Sweeney holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Murray State University and Master’s Degrees from both Murray State and Western Kentucky University.
