College Football

Oregon State president F. King Alexander has resigned due to his role in the sexual misconduct allegations at Louisiana State. Alexander was the president at LSU from 2013-2019. An independent investigation detailed the school’s failure to report sexual misconduct within the athletic department. It also revealed that Alexander knew of allegations against former Tigers head football coach Les Miles.

College Baseball

Top ranked Vanderbilt downed Lipscomb 11-3, sixth ranked Louisville downed Western Kentucky 13-6, Austin Peay downed Bellarmine 9-1, Murray State lost to Arkansas State 3-1 and Kentucky walked off Butler 6-5.

NHL

Juuse Saros logged 31 saves as the Nashville Predators shut out the Detroit Red Wings 2-0. Mikael Granlund and Mathieu Olivier lit the lamp for the Preds. Nashville won for the fourth time in five games to improve to 15-17-and-1. The teams rematch tomorrow night at Bridgestone Arena.

NBA.

Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies open a four game road trip tonight at Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies are 20-20 on the season.

NFL

Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is latching on with the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s agreed to a reported one-year, 3.5-million dollar deal, with a chance to make up to 7.5-million. Flacco will provide experience behind Philly starter Jalen Hurts. Flacco played five games with the New York Jets in 2020.

MLB

Kyle Hendricks will be the Chicago Cubs Opening Day starter. The right-hander will take the mound April 1st at Wrigley Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates to begin the season. Hendricks is set to make his second consecutive Opening Day start.

The MLB All-Star game is expected to return in a big way this summer at the Atlanta Braves’ Truist Park. Team executive Mike Plant called it the first global event that will be held since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, in a meeting with Cobb County, Georgia commissioners on Tuesday. The Braves are projecting that the crowd will be back at full-capacity for the July 13th game. Around 100-thousand people are predicted to attend festivities surrounding the game.

PGA Tour

First round matches take place today at the WGC-Dell Match Play Championships being played at Austin Country Club in Austin, TX. Louisville area native Justin Thomas faces Matt Kuchar in his opening round match.
