Christian County Public Schools are moving along towards Spring Break smoothly in-person, with many already looking forward to the next school year.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel spoke with WHOP News Tuesday and says that even with a few new cases coming in the past couple of days, overall active cases remain low.
There are now 66 close contact quarantines in the district, causing students to have to work from home for at least two weeks, and Bentzel says they’re hopeful new guidance will come down that will really cut down on the quarantine requirements—in the meantime, they’re making sure those students don’t fall behind.
The Kentucky General Assembly passed legislation that would allow any student to repeat a grade because of the pandemic, with Bentzel saying he doesn’t expect a large number of students who will do so.
Bentzel is hoping to present plans for in-person graduation for both high schools to the school board soon, along with what health guidelines will be in place. For now, the focus is on getting to Spring Break with no more interruptions in learning—Spring Break is the week of April 5.
