One hurt in vehicle vs. pole collision on S. Campbell Street

A Hopkinsville man was injured in a crash on South Campbell Street Saturday evening after his vehicle collided with a utility pole.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, a vehicle driven by 43-year old Carlos Acree of Hopkinsville was heading southbound on South Campbell about 6:45 p.m. Acree told officers he had been stopped at the stop sign and had started driving towards East Ninth Street when he blacked out.  His vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing severe damage.

Acree was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, and he allegedly told EMS that he had been drinking before trying to head home before the crash occurred.
