EDC Director talks activity in the region, job opportunities

The executive director of the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council appeared on WHOP Friday and spoke about activity happening in the area.

Director Carter Hendricks says activity concerning economic development in the region was obviously stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic, but that has seriously changed in the last couple of months.

He says you never know when you might get a call or an email from an interested industry requesting tours.  One of the things attracting attention to the area is the EDC’s partnership with local agencies to boost the local workforce, including with the school systems to streamline the process for interested students.

With the session of the Kentucky General Assembly wrapping up, Hendricks says it’s important to keep infrastructure needs and possible funding for that heading into the future.

Hendricks says numerous local industries are currently hiring and offering high paying positions, even at entry level, so he urged anyone looking for a job to contact the West Kentucky Workforce Board for more information.
