WKU holds off Saint Mary’s in NIT

Western Kentucky had as much as a 10 point lead, but held off Saint Mary’s 69-67 in the opening round of the NIT in Frisco, TX. Senior guard Taveion Hollingsworth had 21 points, and junior center Charles Bassey recorded his 17th double-double of the season with 19 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. In all five Hilltoppers were in double figures in improving to 21-7. WKU will meet either Louisiana Tech or Ole Miss next Thursday in the second round also in Frisco, TX.
