The Christian County School Board heard an update on what in-person graduation activities will take place towards the end of the year and what guidelines will be in place for those events.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says discussions continue about prom and graduations, with the majority of students strongly in favor of in-person events—he says they will take place April 16 for Hopkinsville High School and April 23 for Christian County, with a plan in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and there will be no cost to the students.
Virtual Learning Academy seniors will be allowed to participate in the in-person prom, and he says they’ll be meeting with students next week concerning graduation.
He says they intend to talk with students first about what they would like graduations to look like as well, and work to meet those wants for a class that has been heavily impacted by the pandemic.
In other action, the board approved the executive of a lease agreement between the board and the Christian County School District Finance Corporation to sell building revenue bonds in an amount to not exceed $650,000 for the purpose of providing funds to renovate the roof at South Christian Elementary School.
