Ag. Expo Center open for events, hopes to increase agri-tourism

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville heard a presentation on the new Ag. Expo Center in Christian County at Tuesday’s meeting.

The Ag. Expo Center, located on Pembroke Road near the Christian County Ag. Extension Office, recently wrapped up the bulk of construction and has already hosted events, including a barrel race that showcased a large number of horses and riders.  Jay Stone says there’s always been a need for a facility like this in the community, not just for those interested in agriculture related events.

He says the center will play a big role in increasing agri-tourism in the area, and is home to a large event space that can comfortable hold a good-sized crowd and their horses.

Stone says the center was almost completely funded by donations and fundraising monies, and money raised by events will go towards utility costs.

It was made possible through a partnership with with the Christian County Ag. Extension Office, Christian Fiscal Court, the City of Hopkinsville, Farm Credit Mid-America and other agencies.  Ground was broken for the facility in September of 2019.
