Ky. gains 963 new COVID-19 cases, 29 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 963 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, along with 29 new deaths.

Those new deaths is creeping the death toll up towards 5,000, with 4,950 individuals having due in relation to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.  The governor says, overall the numbers continue to decline, with the positivity rate at 3.88 percent, and the number of new cases decreasing as well.

He says, “While this is encouraging, we need to remain committed to the public health measures that have helped Kentucky curb the number of infections, hospitalizations and deaths that would have otherwise occurred.”

There are currently 520 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 125 in the ICU and 88 on a ventilator.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,543 new cases there, and 16 new deaths—the positivity rate in the Volunteer State is at 6.08 percent.
