HHS senior prom set for April 16, CCHS April 23

Dates and times have been set for senior in-person proms at Hopkinsville and Christian County High School.

Student representatives of Christian County High won the coin toss Friday morning and chose Friday, April 23 as their prom date, meaning Hopkinsville High’s prom will be Friday, April 16. Both proms will be on the football field at the Stadium of Champions and they will be moved to the following Saturday night in the case of inclement weather.

Only seniors and their dates will be allowed to attend prom and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says measures will be in place to prevent spread of COVID-19.

Entrance will begin at 7 p.m. and the dance from 8 until 10 p.m. and Bentzel says while parents will not be able to view entrance at the stadium to keep the crowd down, there will be a live stream online.

Bentzel says those dates allow enough time for a quarantine period if there is any potential spread of COVID at prom, where those seniors could still participate in in-person graduation in May. There will be no cost for seniors to attend prom.
