Montie Streeval, the man charged in connection with the shooting death of 25-year old Cameron Phillips, has a new attorney in his case in Trigg County.
Streeval is now represented by defense attorney Bill Deatherage, who requested more time to go over the existing evidence in the case and decide on his course of action.
Trigg Circuit Judge C.A. Woody Woodall granted his request and set a pretrial hearing for April 14.
Phillips’ body was found August 6 in a wood line near Old Rocky Point Road. Kentucky State Police Detective David Dick testified during a preliminary hearing recently and says investigation determined Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Streeval allegedly admitted to driving Phillips to Trigg County for a drug deal.
Detective Dick says Streeval has neither admitted nor denied killing Phillips. Streeval is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
