Western Kentucky will fall into a more active weather pattern later this week, but forecasters are not expecting any major severe weather outbreaks or snowstorms anytime soon.
Windy and dry conditions are creating an increased wildfire danger through Tuesday afternoon, according to Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah, who said during the weekly weather conference call that outdoor burning is discouraged until at least Wednesday.
A chance of rain returns for the weekend, but Shanklin says don’t expect any flash flooding like a week ago.
The long-term forecast is calling for cooler than normal temperatures with about average precipitation from March 15 through 21.
Meteorological winter ended March 1 and Shanklin says it was wetter than normal—though most of that precipitation came in a trio of winter storms that impacted Western Kentucky in succession late last month.
