Kentucky reports 840 new COVID cases on anniversary of first case

Governor Andy Beshear honored the over 4,800 Kentuckians who have died from the coronavirus on the one-year anniversary of the state’s first case Saturday as he announced another 840 cases and 52 deaths.

The commonwealth’s positivity rate fell to an even 4-percent, 591 Kentuckians are in the hospital with the virus, 171 are in the ICU and 72 are on a ventilator.

Christian, Todd and Trigg counties remain yellow on the state incidence rate map and Lyon is the only red county in the Pennyrile region because of outbreaks at the penitentiary and Western Kentucky Correctional Complex.

Tennessee announced 1,312 new cases and nine more deaths, with hospitalizations dropping by 39 to 778 and the state’s positivity rate is 5.76 percent.
