Murray State lost in overtime to Jacksonville State 82-78. It’s only the fifth time in 35 years the Racers have failed to make the semifinals. Tevin Brown had 24 points with KJ Williams adding 23 as the Racers end the season 13-13.
Austin Peay was also eliminated by Eastern Kentucky 70-67. The Governors Terry Taylor had 19 points and 16 rebounds in defeat as the Governors finish the season 14-13.
In women’s action: Murray State edged Southeast Missouri 67-64 in the first post season win in the Rechelle Turner era. The Racers trailed 19-8 at the end of the first quarter but scored 40 points in the next two periods. Macey Turley led Murray State with 25 points as they improved to 16-10. Next up is a semifinal date with two seed Belmont at 3:30 this afternoon.
