Body found in Clarksville was missing man last seen in Oak Grove

Clarksville police have located the body of the man who went missing last December in Oak Grove.

Detective Michael Patterson says the human remains found Tuesday on Kennedy Road were positively identified as 20-year old Justin Tyler Sawyer.

Sawyer was reported missing in December and was last seen at the Shell station on KY 115 near the I-24 interchange in Oak Grove.

Kentucky State Police have charged 22-year old Marquell Devont’e Sims and 20-year old Dawuan Davis of Oak Grove with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and kidnapping. Thirty-six-year old Gene “Doug” Henry of Oak Grove is charged with abuse of a corpse.

KSP says Sims, Davis and Sawyer were in a car together at the Shell station on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road on December 17 during a drug deal gone bad that led to Davis allegedly shooting Sawyer five times.

Sims reportedly got out of the car after the first two shots were fired and walked across KY 115 to the Pilot gas station. Police say Davis later in the night used the help of Henry to move Sawyer’s body from the back seat to the trunk of his stolen car.

Until this week, it was unknown where Sawyer’s body was left.

Detective Patterson says it remains a very active investigation.
