Fort Campbell broke ground Thursday morning on an $87.4 million housing development project focused on housing for junior enlisted soldiers and their families.

Lendlease Communities Chief Operating Officer Philip  Carpenter says  the improvements, approved by the Army in 2020, will construct 144 new three-and four-bedroom homes, majorly renovate 170 homes, and demolish 250 homes over the next five years.

Making one of his final appearances as commander of Fort Campbell and the 101st Airborne Division, Maj. Gen. Brian Winski says it became very clear some of the existing housing would need to be torn down to start over with new development.

Lieutenant General Douglas Gabram is Commanding General of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command and says the $87.4 million investment is just the beginning of an overhaul to housing on Fort Campbell.

Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Col. Jeremy Bell says, “This has been a long time coming. We made a promise to our Soldiers and Families to improve their quality of life on Fort Campbell and we are ready to deliver in a big way.”
