Chicago Cubs pitchers allowed only six hits over seven innings in a 1-0 shutout of the San Diego Padres in their Cactus League opener. P.J. Higgins drove in the lone run for Chicago. The Cubs host the Kansas City Royals today.
The Atlanta Braves earned their first win of spring training with the help of William Contreras’ three RBI. Atlanta held off the Boston Red Sox to win 5-3 Monday. Jake Lamb added an RBI single for the Braves, who host the Minnesota Twins today.
