House passes bill to allow no-excuse early voting in Kentucky

The state House passed legislation Friday morning that would allow three days of no-excuse early voting before elections in Kentucky, but would not permit widespread mail-in voting.

House Bill 574 maintains absentee voting and an online portal to request an absentee ballot and Representative Myron Dossett says he supported it because it gives folks more flexibility to cast their ballot with early voting.

The measure supported by Secretary of State Michael Adams also enhances the ability of state election officials to remove nonresident voters from the voter rolls and transitions the state toward universal paper ballots.

The bill now heads to the Senate.
