Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave a brief update on COVID-19 in the state Friday, reporting 1,180 new cases and 30 new deaths.
According to a news release, the positivity rate has decreased slightly once again to 5.52 percent and the death toll is now at 4,600 since the pandemic began. Governor Beshear says that while we’re still not totally out of the woods when it comes to the pandemic, every week shows a milestone and another step towards putting it behind us for good.
There are currently 818 individuals in the hospital due to COVID-19, 218 in the ICU and 105 individuals on a ventilator.
The governor also extended the face mask mandate in the Commonwealth for another 30 days.
The Tennessee Department of Health has reported 1,573 new cases there, along with 56 new deaths—the Volunteer State has lost 11,377 people to COVID-19.
