Death penalty sought against man for murder of Fort Campbell soldier

The United States Government is seeking the death penalty against a man accused of murdering a Fort Campbell soldier on post in October of 2018.

A superseding grand jury indictment was returned Tuesday against Victor Everette Silvers, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office saying he shot Sgt. Brittney Niecol Silvers to death on October 14, 2018 on Fort Campbell.

Sgt. Silvers was assigned to the 96th Aviation Support Battalion at the time of her death.

Victor Silvers is charged with first-degree pre-meditated murder, attempted first-degree murder (domestic violence), violation of a protection order and other crimes related to the firearm used in the shooting.

The FBI is the investigating agency in the case.
