Man hospitalized after burglary, assault

A man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly went into a home on Cooperfield Avenue and assaulted his mother’s ex-boyfriend.

An arrest citation for 34-year old Dellondo Ross of Hopkinsville says he went into an apartment in the 300 block of Cooperfield, jumped on 63-year old William Lewis and assaulted him with his hands and feet and slamming a table on his head. The alleged assault reportedly happened after Ross asked for money and Lewis refused.

Lewis lost a substantial amount of blood and had a serious injury to the top of his head that required treatment at Tennova Health Hospital in Clarksville, according to the report.

Ross fled the scene, but was later located by Hopkinsville police at a location on Aspen Drive where another disturbance was reported.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary.

His vehicle was located on Boyd Street, where 23-year old Sara Chancey was arrested for public intoxication and obstructing governmental operations—as police say she stood in front of Ross’ SUV and would not move so the automobile could be towed.
