Kroger vaccine site opening in Hopkinsville

The trends continue showing COVID-19 is decline in Kentucky, with Governor Andy Beshear reporting 1,447 new cases Thursday, but deaths remain high with 43 new.

Governor Beshear says the winter weather last week did have an effect on testing at least in some amount, as this week is shaping up to be just a bit higher in the new case numbers than last week, but the downward trend stays steady.

The positivity rate is now at 5.67 percent, which the governor calls fantastic news—six new regional vaccine sites were announced, including in Russellville and in Muhlenberg County, while a Kroger site is opening up in Hopkinsville, in the coming week.

Lt. Governor Jacquelyn Coleman announced the state will be receiving $195.5 million through CARES Act funding that will go toward child care aid—she says it is much needed to help stabilize child care agencies and programs that have been hit hard during the pandemic.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 1,994 new cases Thursday, along with 55 new deaths, putting the death toll in the Volunteer State at 11,321, while the positivity rate is at 6.45 percent.
