Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force receives federal grant

The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force is one of several agencies in Kentucky that have received a grant from the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.

According to a news release from the Office of the Governor, the program furthers the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet’s mission of assisting law enforcement’s efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence. Funds awarded may be used to hire additional personnel or purchase equipment, supplies, training, technical assistance and information systems.

The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force has been awarded $260,468 to develop leads and gather information to combat the sale, distribution and transportation of illegal drugs and narcotics within the Pennyrile Area Development District.
