CCPS Superintendent happy with low case numbers, looking ahead to graduation

Christian County Public Schools students are once again back in-person, now that the ice and snow has melted away, and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says they’ve quickly gotten back to work.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the district is at the lowest it has been in month, and there are currently zero close contact quarantines in place—there are seven in-person cases and two in the Virtual Learning Academy, and only one active staff case.  Bentzel says they are happy to see those low numbers and thinks the credit for it can go to many factors.

Governor Andy Beshear has recommended schools in the state consider expanding their in person offerings after March 1, with Bentzel saying not much will change locally because they’re already back full time.

The administration will start meeting with students and committees to discuss the options about graduation and prom, with Bentzel saying it’s his hope they will have some type of traditional, in-person events.

The recommendation for a graduation date will be brought before the school board at the March 4 meeting for approval.
