Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,993 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, along with 28 new deaths.
Visiting one of the regional vaccine sites in Convington, Governor Beshear says while vaccine rollout is going as smoothly as it can as the state’s supply increases, he urges people to not let their guard down for just a little while longer until everyone can get a vaccine, to help keep everyone safe.
He says Kentuckians have proven time and time again that they are people of action, doing what needs to be done to keep others safe and keep the spread of the virus down.
The positivity rate was at 6.89 percent, a decrease following a brief spike in the rate, while 923 Kentuckians are currently in the hospital due to coronavirus—there are 265 individuals in the ICU and 131 on a ventilator.
Trigg and Lyon County are now ‘yellow’ on the state incidence rate map—Christian and Todd counties are ‘orange’ on the map, which shows fewer counties in the ‘red’ than in previous weeks.
The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 1,372 new cases of COVID-19 there, along with seven deaths—the number of Tennesseans in the hospital is at 973 and the positivity rate is 10.38 percent.
