Local man served with indictment for attempted murder of officers

Anthony Dyson

A Christian County grand jury indictment for attempted murder of two police officers has been served against a Hopkinsville man.

The indictment warrant for two counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment was served against 25-year old Anthony Dyson of Hopkinsville.

Two Hopkinsville police officers were responding to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of East 13th Street just after midnight on New Year’s Day and found a man holding a gun standing on the front porch of a home.

Sgt. Tony Sierra says Dyson is accused of being that man who allegedly took off running and fired two shots—with one going through a civilian vehicle and striking the rear of the occupied unmarked HPD cruiser.

Dyson was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $20,000 bond.

Two other men accused in the shots fired incident before officers arrived—27-year old Tevin Poindexter and 29-year old Devon Poindexter of Hopkinsville—were served with indictment warrants for first-degree wanton endangerment.
