KSP: Dawson Springs man found dead Feb. 7 was struck by semi

Kentucky State Police say the Dawson Springs man found dead along Interstate 69 in Hopkins County earlier this month had been fatally struck by a semi and they’re asking for the public’s help to locate that vehicle and driver.

As previously reported, the body of 29-year old Michael “Andrew” Dowd was found February 7 off the southbound lanes of travel of Interstate 69 near the 103 mile-marker in Hopkins County.

In an update Thursday, KSP said they are seeking the help of the public in attempting to identify the driver or company of a white 2018-2022 Freightliner Cascadia.  Evidence recovered from the scene indicates this vehicle is suspected to have struck ” Dowd between February 4 and 7, causing damage to the front passenger headlight assembly and hood.

Police say it’s possible the truck driver did not realize they struck a pedestrian and may have suspected they struck an animal or object.  Any commercial vehicle company with damage sustained, involving the replacement of the passenger headlight assembly and hood, are asked to contact KSP at 270-676-3313.
