Hopkinsville fugitive shot in Russellville officer-involved shooting

The Hopkinsville man sought by police after he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor and fled prior to final sentencing Wednesday morning was injured in an officer-involved shooting Thursday night in Russellville.

Kentucky State Police say deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Russellville Walmart to attempt to locate 44-year old Brian Ellis.

When they located him inside a car, Ellis allegedly drove the vehicle toward deputies and shots were fired, according to a news release.

Ellis was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound and his condition was not known.

As previously reported, Ellis was originally charged with attempted murder in September of last year for firing a gun into an occupied home and vehicle on Dawson Springs Road and Hart Road. He entered an Alford plea to lesser charges in a deal that came with a 15 year sentence before he fled the county.
