Ky. adds 2,339 new COVID-19 cases, 35 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 2,339 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, once again announcing a decrease in cases compared to prior weeks but a high number of deaths.

The governor says they continue to see downwards trends in most categories, including the positivity rate, which was down to 7.66 percent.  He says that in big thanks to compliance from businesses and individuals who have been fighting the spread hard.

The governor did report 35 new deaths, which remains high —Beshear says the number of those deaths occurring in long term care facilities is greatly decreased.

Governor Beshear cautioned everyone to be careful during the ice storm that is set to impact the entire state in some way, urging people to stay home if possible and avoiding travelling on icy roadways. He says that would help keep not just yourself safe, but also those first responders and line crews who have to be out to address any issues that crop up due to the weather.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,636 new cases there, along with 65 new deaths, bringing the death toll in the Volunteer State up to 10,631.
